Fragrant Pilau Rice

Serves 4

Steps:

  1. Put the rice into a sieve and rince under cold water.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon and saffron threads and cook for about 1 minute.
  3. Add the rice to the butter and mix until the rice is coated, then add the water.
  4. Bring to the boil and then reduce heat and cook for about 15 minutes.
  5. Turn off heat and place a lid on the saucepan and allow the rice to finish cooking in its own heat for a further 5 minutes.
  6. Use a fork to separate the rice and then serve.

This rice is a wonderful accompaniment to most Indian dishes along with some naan bread!
